by fix, she meant that the arena no longer deletes pets. The End. Find another pet.

for real though....they are easily replaceable....relax.

Yeah the Moa and Phoenix are and well almost anything except maybe the spiders are easy to get. But if you got a spider you can probably get a group of others who lost their spiders to get another.

Anyway it's nice to see some of you offering to help out people who did lose their pets. I just wanted to say I'm very pleased to see that!

Hmm if the leveling process is that rapid, then what's the harm in letting people charm level 20 pets (complete with various evolutions) for a few days?

And before anything yells at me, I didnt lose a pet but I know what a pain it can be to level it up to a specific evolution.

I did NOT lose my Gruller. I am very glad that I was too tired to play last night and that I rarely take him with me when not doing PVE. I've had Gruller since he and I were both noobz and I've grown quite found of him (snow wolf). Everyone says a rollback would have been horendous but it was VERY shortly after the innitial OMG MY PET IS GONE that they noticed. I think a very quick rollback of those few minutes wouldn't have hurt near as bad as people think.

I think it really sucks that some of you lost your pets, especially those of you who are attached to your pet as I am mine. When I went with my guildies so they could get their spiders, there was never any doubt for me, I wasn't about to let Gruller go. Some of us have silly attachments to things that represent the past. And while a lot of you might think that is lame, it's the same reason I love presear. The nastalgia of the old and what was and how you got to where you are now. Gruller was with me for the ride and hopefully nothing will ever take him away from me.

I'm all aboard for an IWAY nerf, but this is a bit drastic.

Forget a roll-back, I don't see why they just don't RESTORE the deleted pets. I guarantee they can determine who was affected and what pet they had.

Perhaps they are doing this. Maybe they just need a day to figure out how to do it and they are really busy right now. Fine. Just say "Oops, sorry! Our bad. We'll fix it, but give us a few days."

Well it is deffinately too late for a rollback at this point, I meant right after it had happened.

And even if there is not any hypothetical way to replace the pets, is there not some way to make up for the loss? It just all seems really sad to me. ;_;

I doubt ANet keeps a backup like every 5 minutes of the entire server for the last few days. It probably would have had to be rollback of several hours, which nobody would have wanted (regarding drops and orbs and the tickets). As for returning pets... I don't know, but I really doubt they're going to do it.

I'm not trying to call you out or flame you, but I think that since they sent that live they HAD to have backed up right before they made it live or else it would have been a very risky play on their part. I mean with as many things that "can" go wrong, it makes sense to backup right before sending something live otherwise you end up with the same thing as when the rune traders got reset -that was a lengthy backup that I am sure caused a lot more grief than a few mins to a half hour backup would have. (However I could be wrong and it most certainly wouldn't be the first time.)

HOWEVER in the end, it matters not, we are long passed what could/should/would/whatever have been a rollback so its a moot point ^_^ But it will give them something to think about if this ever happens again.

I know people are grieving right now but Anet tried to do something nice and this was a mistake. If this is the worst thing that has happened to you this week, consider yourself damn lucky.

Well, remember, the rollback to reset the rune traders was because the economy of the game would have been screwed up. Also, they took down the server for 8 or 9 hours to do it. People losing pets, although understandably upsetting for those affected, is hardly something to bring about such a downtime, during the much anticipated Dragon Festival. A rollback would have done WAY more damage than good.

Perhaps next year's festival should be a Memorial Day, if you will, in remembrance of the pets lost to the Dragon Arena... Just a thought...

How about our friends at ANet make amends to all rangers who lost their pets to the arena bug by giving them a mini pet to go along with the apology? ANet tooketh away so seems equally fair for them to giveth back.

Unfortunately i cant fully express my feelings on this subject without triggering 'Go Red Engine' I entered the Dragon Arena pretty much as soon as it went up. i remember a update solving the problem coming up my 6th conseq win. That makes the time to solve the bug about 30 minutes i beleive.

Anyway, i lost my Dire Black Widow Spider to this bug. As i play a Thumper, and have spent much of my time making my PvE character perfect for the role, so this effects me particularly hard. Its not a case of simply going back to cap, and then level a pet. Its a case of going down UW, either with PUGS, or a 20-30k spider run, and hoping that i pick up a Dire Spider. I am not sure the relative rarity of these prefixes, but i do know Dire has the highest DPS, which is perfect for a Thumper.

I reported the bug as soon as i found out about it, and i requested that my pet would be restored. As yet i have not had any of my questions answered regarding my inquiry. However, it now seems that restoration is 'impossible'. I think impossible may be the wrong term, and impractical may be a better description. I can understand that it may take unneccasary time and effort to correct any of these problems. However, this is little solice to those of us that actually lost something of value.

Now, i am aware that i am in no position to demand anything, after all everything we 'own' in game is never our property anyway. Even so it still stings greatly that i have lost my pet, which will take a great deal of effort and possible money to put straight.

So, to summarise, i can see the prob ANET has, i can, to a certain extent, see why they may not want to correct the problem, and i can see i have no right to demand my pet back. None of that makes me feel any better about it. What might have made me feel slightly better would have been to have my inquiry actually read through properly, and had a email back from support that answered my questions. instead i got an email back that i suspect was almost entirely automated. I emailed my inquiry under Bugs, as i thought i better report the bug, and then move onto asking what could be done about it. The first email was most def automated, it made no claims otherwise, but the second one merely thanked my input, and did not answer any of my questions. This annoys me most of all becuase it seems to me that the bug may have been unavoidable, the restoration of pets may be impractical, but the customer support i have recieved thus far is unacceptable.

All in all ANET, i accept the apology given by Gaile on behalf of ANET, i am not even particularly mad that the bug occured in the first place. However, the support i have received, or failed to receive thus far makes my blood boil. I hope that i recieve contact over business days to come, otherwise i can see no excuse. May this kind of thing never happen again, and i may others have luck in getting their lost pets back.

Just a note.. while anet and gw is saying that they cant restore the pets, why is it if you had named your pet before deletion, when you capped another pet to replace it, it has the name of your deleted pet?

Your chosen "petname" is saved with the information of your character - not the data compiling your pet (evolution, type, etc).

This makes it where you keep your pet name even through changing pets.

Thank you for the responses.
I'm still heartbroken about the loss of my pet. I play one char, and I get attached sorry, must be a female thing.

I do appreciate the apology from Gaile and do not expect a roll back. Sure would be nice if I could get this stupid phoenix to hearty faster though.
